In life, there are moments when we feel energized and unstoppable, and when we feel weary and burdened. Hebrews 12:1-2 encourages us, “Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith.” These verses remind us that our walk with the Lord is not a sprint, but a marathon that requires perseverance, focus, and the right perspective.
Just as a runner prepares for a race with training and discipline, we too must prepare ourselves spiritually to face the challenges and trials that come our way. It's easy to become discouraged when the path seems long and obstacles appear impossible, but God calls us to press on, keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the One who goes before us.
Once we accept Jesus into our lives, we enter the race. It is not an easy path; it’s like a cross-country journey with bumps, hills, and valleys. But when we keep our eyes and our focus on Jesus—the one who goes before us in this race—we will not fail. Our focus needs to stay on Him and Him alone.
We must choose daily to follow Him. We will fall, and we may get lost and fall down the wrong path if we don’t keep our eyes rested and fixed on Christ.
Jesus knows we cannot run this race in our own strength.
I know I can’t run this race in my own strength.
He is the one from whom our endurance comes.
I have tried to do it on my own, and I fail every single time.
I will never be good enough or strong enough to do life on my own terms. Trust me, I have tried that, and it led me down a path of sin, depression, anxiety, fear, and regret.
BUT GOD STEPPED IN. He called me His daughter. He broke the chains of my sin that were holding me captive. He told me how loved I am, and He invited me to follow Him.
I followed Him, but just as things were getting good, I thought I could run the race on my strength again. I was wrong. I found myself once again, depressed, angry, anxious, and in a constant state of overwhelm.
BUT GOD. He didn’t give up on me.
He called me. He never stopped pursuing me; He never stopped loving me.
“FOLLOW ME.” He kept saying.
So I did, and I am free.
I am running this race with confidence in who I am because of who HE is. I stopped focusing on myself and my strength and started focusing on Jesus, the One who has guided my steps, the One who stands and waits for me to put my focus back on Him while showing perfect patience and grace.
The One who freely gives His love and forgiveness.
When I keep my eyes on Him, allow the Holy Spirit to guide me, and let Him carry me in His strength, I can run and never grow weary.

I want to encourage you today to run with endurance.
Let go of trying to do it all on your own and allow Him to carry you through.
Surrender your will and your ways to His will and His ways.

So what does this look like? How do we run with endurance and allow Him to carry us through?
Get in the Word daily. Read and meditate on Scripture. When we know the character of God, we know that He will never fail us.
Take your thoughts captive. Don’t allow the enemy to convince you to rely on your own strength. He knows the power we hold when we rely on Jesus.
My prayer for you today:
God, thank You for the person reading this right now. Thank You for not leaving us to run this race in our own strength. We come to You today to ask for endurance and strength to continue to run the race. We ask that You provide the confidence we need to face what may come today. We put our trust in You today, Lord.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen 🙏
